How do I play?

Make words of four to nine letters from the nine letters. Every word must use the letter on the black tile. Tap the tiles or type, then tap Guess. Tap a used tile again to take its letter back out.

Why wasn’t my word accepted?

Nine Letter Word uses a British English word list, so some spellings and some less common words aren’t in it. If you think a word is missing, send it to nine@mhb.nz.

Why can’t I enter my newspaper’s letters?

Enter Letters works for nine letters that make a nine-letter word, typed in the order shown in your puzzle, so the middle letter is the one that must be used. A small number of nine-letter words have no puzzle, including those whose letters can spell an offensive word.

What does “Offline puzzle” mean?

The app couldn’t reach the puzzle server, so it is showing one of the puzzles built into the app. Once you’re back online, tap the dice for a new puzzle from the server.

“Too many requests”

The puzzle server limits how quickly new puzzles can be requested. Wait a minute and try again.

Can I turn the vibration off?

Yes. Open the menu and turn off Haptics.

What do I need to run Nine Letter Word?

An iPhone with iOS 27 or later.
